John 13:15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
Some people believe that we just need to act like Jesus did and we will be saved.
Jesus made the law worse. Until Jesus came we would have had the excuse that no one could keep the law.
Matthew 15:17 Jesus kept the law. He didn’t even have evil thoughts.
If all we needed to do was act like Jesus he would not have needed to die.
Matt. 17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, <but> grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
Read Acts 2:16-42 Summary of law
Law exod 19:3-20:20
1 Law did not replace grace.
Galatians 3:16-18
Galatians 3:16 (KJV) Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
Galatians 3:17 (KJV) And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
Galatians 3:18 (KJV) For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
Hebrews 8:7 first covenant canceled. If it was faultless a second covenant would not be needed.
What is a covenant?
1242. diatheke, dee-ath-ay'-kay; from G1303; prop. a disposition, i.e. (spec.) a contract (espec. a devisory will):--covenant, testament.
2 Law was added because of sin
Gal 3:19-21 Through Christ we are descendants of Abraham.
Galatians 3:19 (KJV) Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
Galatians 3:20 (KJV) Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
Galatians 3:21 (KJV) Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
3 The Law concludes all under sin
Gal 3:22 Promise by faith in Christ to believers.
Galatians 3:22 (KJV) But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

What was the purpose of the law? Galatians 3:24
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster <to bring us> unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
5 Law can not make one perfect
Hebrews 10:4 blood of bulls and goats cant take away sin
Hebrews 7:19
Hebrews 7:19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
Hebrews 10:1-7
Hebrews 10:1
For the law having a shadow of good things to come, <and> not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
